Colorful Intros iGame Pre-Built Gaming Desktops

Chinese PC maker Colorful announces the iGame Sigma M500-- a line of pre-built desktop computers aimed at customers wanting a plug-and-play solution for both gaming and computing applications.

The Sigma M500 series comes in Basic, Advanced, Prime and Ultra configurations, with specs ranging from 8th to 9th gen Intel Core processors, Colorful GeForce graphics cards, DDR4 memory and SSD storage. All come in a chassis the company describes as "inspired by DIY-built gaming PCs" and claims offer performance, stability and high technical standards.

A Raspberry Pi 4 for 4K Video

The Raspberry Pi Foundation announces a 4th version of the titular micro-PC-- the Raspberry Pi 4, an upgrade promising "PC-like levels of performance," at least for "most users."

The Raspberry Pi 4 carries a 1.5GHz quad-core Broadcom processor (up from 1.4GHz in the previous model), a 500MHz VideoCore VI GPU (up from 400MHz) and up to 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. The result, the makers claim, is a tiny machine able to handle 4K 60fps video through the support for HEVC video, as well as dual-monitor support via dual micro-HDMI ports.

Cooler Master Goes Silent With Silencio Cases

Cooler Master announces a pair of additions to the Silencio PC chassis range-- the Silencio S400 and S600, both featuring a minimalist design allowing for minimal noise and maximum thermal efficiency.

According to the company, the two cases refine "long-established strengths of silence optimization and thermal efficiency." To back such claims, Cooler Master says it tested the S400 and S600 using Sorama Cam64, an audio visualisation system allowing one to find and target sources of noise, vibrations and resonance throughout the chassis, leading to construction in materials of varying densities in order to improve on the quality of the "silence."

The chasses feature construction in steel, plastic and "sound dampening material." The sound dampening top cover is removable in order to increase ventilation, while the steel front door features a reversible mounting system capable of opening in two directions. The S400 includes an HDD cage one can shift to the front for more PSU clearance, backwards for additional front radiator space or remove completely in case they are not using HDD storage.

PCI-SIG Announces PCIe 6.0 Specification

The finalised PCIe 5.0 specification might be less than a month old, but the PCI-SIG already has plans for the next version of the technology-- PCIe 6.0, an update doubling the bandwidth to 64 GT/s while maintaining backwards compatibility.

In total, PCIe 6.0 promises data rates of up to 256GB/s in a x16 configuration. It uses PAM-4 (Pulse Amplitude Modulation with 4 levels) encoding and leverages existing 56G PAM-4, and includes low-latency Forward Error Correction (FEC) with additional mechanisms to improve bandwidth efficiency. As mentioned earlier, PCIe 6.0 also aims to maintain backwards compatibility with all previous PCIe generations.

MSI Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Lightning Graphics Cards

MSI announces the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Lightning 10th Anniversary Edition graphics card at Computex 2019-- a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti-based card built using a speciallly binned TU102 die.

The company says it listened to feedback to refine the PCB layout, component choices and "extreme" OC features, bringing the best in performance and cooling technology. The card carries 11GB of GDDR6 memory and offers a boost clock of 1575MHz, within a TRI-FROZR thermal design using three TORX Fans 3.0 with double ball bearings and a heatsink optimised for efficient heat dissipation. A full carbon backplate both strengthens the card and boost thermal conductivity via thick heatpipe and thermal pads. The card requires a 650W PSU, and includes x3 8-pin power connectors.
