Tough case maker Pelican takes a look at the iPad and netbooks with the 1075 and i1075 HardBack Cases-- cases tough enough to protect devices from heights of up to 1m.

The company says 1075-series cases are dustproof, watertight and crushproof, with built-in automatic purge valve keeping water and dust out (while balancing air pressure) and an easy-open latch that remains shut under pressure or after impact.

Munich-based Equinox has a solution for customers wanting to watch TV programs on their iPads-- the Tizi Go, a dongle turning the iPad into a mobile DVB-TV solution.

The Tizi Go is a follow-up on the Tizi, a wifi-based TV transmitter. Connecting to the iPad dock connector, it not only receives DVB-TV signals but also allows users to pause, record and rewind live TV via tizi.tv app.

Ultrabook Future Depends on Prices

What is the key factor stopping customers from buying an ultrabook? Costs, as CONTEXT reports the devices retain too-high selling prices.

The analyst points out an ultrabook has an average price of €670. In comparison, the average consumer notebook costs €410 while a netbook costs €197. Not to mention that ultrabooks launched in a period of tightening consumer wallets and austerity measures.

HP Encases Ultrabook in Glass

The biggest PC maker reveals its latest warrior for the ultrabook war at CES 2012-- the Envy 14 Spectre, a "premium ultrabook" armoured in glossy Gorilla Glass.

Weighing around 1.8kg, it is slightly heftier than other ultrabooks by being 20mm thick. It has a 14" 1600x900 Radiance display and carries a Core i5-2467 CPU, 4GB RAM, a NFC chip and a battery HP promises provides 9 hours of power.

Razer Reveals Project Fiona

Razer unveils another potentially interesting concept design at CES 2012-- "Project Fiona," a 10.1" multitouch tablet with a pair of gamepad-style handles attached to the sides, aiming directly at the gaming market.

The prototype carries an Intel Core i7 processor, together with a 3-axis gyroscope, magnetometer, accelerometer and built-in force feedback. Connectivity comes through wifi and Bluetooth (Razer gives no mention of USB or HDMI ports), while Dolby Theatre v4 enchances audio.
