Logitech Adds to G Range Keyboards

Logitech announces a pair of keyboard additions to the G gaming hardware range-- the wireless G915 Lightspeed and the wired G815 Lightsync, both featuring low-profile GL switches in a sleek aluminium case.

GL switches come in 3 variants, linear, tacticle and clicky, or the equivalent of the Cherry MX Red, Brown and Blue switches. Logitech claims they are 50% the height of standard mechnical switches and offer 25% faster presses, making for a more comfortable typing experience.

The G915 features proprietary 2.4GHz wireless Lightspeed technology via companion dongle to pair with the PC. Bluetooth connectivity is also available. The company says battery life clocks at just 12 days if one has the RGB lighting on, but it shoots up to 135 days with the lighting off, as based on the assumption of 8 hours of use a day.

Razer Puts Optical Switches in Viper Mouse

Razer claims the Viper gaming mouse has an extra edge thanks to the addition of optical switches to the main left and right buttons allowing for "lightning-fast" response times of just 0.2ms.

Reportedly superior to the mechanical alternative, the Razer Optical Mouse Switches require no physical contact for signal transmission, bringing about improved durability with a rating of up to 70 million clicks. For the curious, the technology is based on infrared actuation. Essentially, clicking one of the buttons triggers a shutter crossing an infrared beam to instantly send a signal to the PC.
