Urban Armor Gear (UAG) launches Metropolis Series Cases designed for the 10.5- and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, complete with an impact-resistant soft core and a tactile non-slip exterior grip.

The cases meet MIL-STD 810 US military specification standards for 360-degree protection from drops and shocks. A smart cover protects the display and acts as a multi-position stand, while corner bumpers provide extra drop protection. Also included is onboard storage for an Apple Pencil.

Satechi presents the Type-C to HDMI adapter compatible with 4K displays with a 60Hz refresh rate, allowing MacBook users to push 4K video to other, larger displays.

Featuring a brushed aluminium finish, the adapter is compatible with a wide range of USB-C devices other than the latest MacBooks, including the ChromeBook, Lumia 950/950XL, Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S, Samsung S8 (at WQHD), HP Spectre, Huawei Matebook, Dell XPS series and Xiaomi notebook 12”. Users simply need to connect an HDMI cable to the adapter, and one has to keep in mind it only supports a direct HDMI-to-HDMI connection.

Also available from the company is the Type-C 4K HDMI cable-- a self-descriptive cable with a USB-C connector on one end and HDMI on the other.

Accessory maker Griffin announces a range of Survivor cases for the 10.5-inch iPad Pro-- the Survivor Rugged Folio, Survivor Journey Folio and Survivor Journey.

The Survivor Rugged Folio promises to be the toughest case in the lineup, with a polycarbonate exterior and a flexible TPU shell complete with stain-resistant Tactical Grip cover. It includes the Griffin impact dispersion system for drop protection (for up to 1.2m), while built-in magnets allow users to mount the iPad on most magnetic surfaces.

The Survivor Journey Folio is a folio-style case with front and back protection. Made from durable polycarbonate, it has a magetic cover customers can fold into a stand with multiple viewing and typing angles. It also protects the iPad Pro from drops up to 1.2m, and is mountable on magnetic cases.

The next company to take on the Thunderbolt 3 docks is Kensington-- the SD5000T Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station is similar to other options on the market, with a variety of ports and 85W charging power.

The SD5000T has a horizontal design, and offers dual Thunderbolt 3 ports for pass-through connections, DisplayPort, separate audio/out ports and a gigabit ethernet port. Also included are x1 USB-C (with 15W power) and x1 USB-A (with 2.1 amps fast charging) ports. The combination of DisplayPort and Thunderbolt 3 allows support for up to two 4K external displays.

Microsoft quietly adds a pair of peripherals to its online storefront-- the Modern Keyboard and Modern Mouse, both featuring Bluetooth 4.0 allowing use with any device compatible with the wireless standard.

The Modern Keyboard has a low profile aluminium frame Microsoft claims is "virtually indestructible" while matching the sleek design of the Surface product line. It can be used with either wireless or wired connection, has a built-in battery promising up to 2 months on a single charge, and is compatible with Windows 10, MacOS, iOS and Android devices.

However what makes the Modern Keyboard rather interesting is a fingerprint sensor nestled between the Alt and Ctrl keys. It is compatible with Windows 10 devices, and allows users to unlock their PCs through Windows Hello and a finger press.

Belkin is the next company to announces another Thunderbolt 3 dock option-- the Thunderbolt 3 Express Dock HD, an aluminium-clad device featuring a slim tapered design.

Designed to match the aesthetic of Apple laptops, the dock offers a range of ports, including x2 Thunderbolt 3 USB-C, x3 USB-A, x1 DisplayPort, x1 ethernet, x1 audio in/out and x1 audio out. It can handle the daisy-chaining of up to 5 Thunderbolt devices, and offers a 170W power adapter to supply power to attached peripherals while charging a notebook with up to 85W of power.

The recently announced 10.5-inch iPad Pro gets a Logitech keyboard case-- the Slim Combo, a combination of hard case, adjustable stand, detachable keyboard and Apple Pencil holder.

The case does not carry a battery, since it sips power directly from the iPad via Smart Connector. Users can fold the keyboard palm rest under to reduce its size (such as during typing on one's lap) or even fold over the entire keyboard to protect the display while on the go.

Wacom announces a pair of styluses-- the Bamboo Ink, a Windows Ink stylus designed for writing, and the Bamboo Sketch, a stylus with a swappable fine tip for drawing on an iPhone or iPad.

The Bamboo Ink is optimised for Windows 10 devices, and comes with 3 different nibs (soft, medium, firm) for different feels. It is compatible with many Windows devices, and as previously detailed at the Microsoft Build conference it allows users to fully interact with the Edge browser, strike through words on Word and even annotate a PDF file.
