NVidia Teams Up with ARM

Nvidia ArmFollowing Microsoft's support for SoC architectures, NVidia aims to rival Intel with "Project Denver"-- a high performance ARM-based CPU core series.

The project involves NVidia partnership with ARM-- with ARM's instruction set fully integrated into the same chip as the NVidia GPU. In other words, it is very similar to AMD's Fusion hardware.

The series will support products ranging from PCs and servers to workstations and supercomputers.

NVidia itself points out ARM growing ever faster, thanks to its success in the mobile processor market.

Commentors describe the announcement as the latest nail in Wintel's coffin-- the "Denver" processor core will power Windows PCs. Time will prove whether NVidia can handle SoC system and CPU design alongside GPU creation.
