Self-described "world's leading smart location company" Tile teams up with Intel to make laptops and notebooks more findable by adding item finder capabilities in Chipzilla-powered devices.
"Most of the world is working from home right now, making laptops and portable devices more critical than ever. We rely on them to maintain continuity and keep information safe. But we're also relying on them to stay connected with loved ones," the item locator dongle maker says. "Our work with Intel means we'll be ready to help PC users avoid disruption and keep track of their devices once we're all on the move again."
Tile already has a similar partnership with HP, but teaming up with Intel will bring the technology to far more potential customers. The Intel solutions with built-in Tile technology will be available for OEMs later in 2020, and promise to allow customers to find their laptop or notebook even when it is in sleep mode.
The two companies add they are already working with PC makers to figure out "the best Tile experience," while a recent Tile survey has 72% of respondents admit the ability to find a lost or misplaced laptop would be "very" or "extremely" valuable.
