The launch of the 10th Gen Intel Core S-series desktop processor includes the Core i-10900K-- a flagship chip Chipzilla describes as nothing less than the world's fastest gaming processors, with speeds reaching up to 5.3GHz.

“Intel is committed to enabling the future of powerful desktop gaming by continuously pushing the performance boundary to deliver an amazing PC gaming experience," the company continues. "The 10th Gen Intel Core S-series for desktops, and the Intel Core i9-10900K processor, the world’s fastest gaming processor reinforces our commitment to the gaming and enthusiast communities.”

The Core i9-10900K is a 10-core, 20-thread processor with support for DDR4-2933 memory speeds. Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 provides more tuning control, faster multitasking and smoother gameplay, with automatic performance boost on lightly threaded applications. More experienced overclockers get per-core hyperthreading control, with the ability to turn threads on or off on a per-core basis. Thermal Velocity Boost allows the processor to run at up to 5.3GHz.

Further features include the 2.5G Intel Ethernet Connector I225, with x2 the network speeds of 1GB ethernet on existing cables, as well as improved wireless connectivity through Gig+ wifi. The result, Chipzilla says, is a processor allowing for games running at up to 187 FPS, as well as a streaming and recording performance improvement of up to 63%, at least when compared with a 3-year old PC based around a 7th Gen Core i7-7700K processor.

Intel says the Core i9-10900K ships on May 2020.
