HP announces a refresh of the Envy 17 premium laptop-- one featuring a 17.3-inch display with (optional) 4K UHD capability, together with a 10th generation Intel Core i7 processor and up to Nvidia MX330 graphics.

The display claims an 86% screen-to-body ratio, but slimmer bezels make for a laptop smaller than the previous Envy 17 model. HP offers the 2020 Envy 17 in a number of storage configurations, including dual-storage with up to a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD, a 1TB 7200rpm SATA HDD and a 16GB PCIe NVMe Intel Optane drive and even up to a 1TB PCIe NVM TLC M.2 SSD.

Further details include up to 32GB DDR4 memory, up to an Nvidia GeForce MX330 GPU, x1 USB-C port, x3 USB-A port, x1 HDMI port and a combo headphone/mic jack. The USB ports support the HP Sleep and Charge feature, meaning they continue to deliver power to connected devices even when the laptop is closed. Wireless connectivity comes through Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5, and HP claims battery life clocks up to 11 hours of mixed usage on a single charge.

As mentioned earlier, the IPS multitouch display is available in either 4K or HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, with brightness reaching 300 nits and 100% sRGB coverage. The machine includes a full-size backlit keyboard with independent camera shutter and mic mute buttons, and the chassis comes in a "natural silver aluminium with a sandblisted finish."

The HP Envy 17 is available now.
