Asus launches a 17.3-inch portable gaming monitor under the ROG brand-- the Strix XG17AHPE, a battery-powered display featuring 1920 x 1080 resolution IPS panel with 240Hz refresh rate and variable refresh support.
The battery inside the XG17AHPE is a 7800mAh number, and promises to power up to 3.5 hours of gaming on a single charge. In total the monitor is 1cm and weighs 1060g with a "super narrow bezel design." The monitor is adaptive sync compliant, and as such can adjust to sync with graphics card output for smoother, tear-free fast-moving visuals, although Asus does not say whether it has FreeSync or G-Sync certification.
The panel promises 100% reproduction of the sRGB colour gamut, while brightness clocks at 300 nits with a 100:1 contrast ratio. Modes such as GamePlus and GameVisual adapt the visuals for different game genre and content, while Shadow Boost lightens bright areas in games. On the audio side the monitor includes a built-in ESS Sabre 9118 DAC and a pair of 1W speakers. Connectivity comes through x1 USB-C (with DP over USB-C capability), x1 micro HDMI v2.0 and x1 USB-C for charging. The package includes a stand/cover allowing use in both landscape or portrait mode.
Asus is still to announce when the Strix XG17AHPE starts shipping.
