Chinese manufacturer Kandao launches what it is possibly one of the smallest cameras able to capture 360-degree video at 8K resolution-- the genuinely pocket-size QooCam 8K.

QooCam 8KThe QooCam 8K features a large 1/1.7-inch 20MP sensors on both sides, making it a bit thick compared to the competition. It also includes a 2.4-inch OLED touchscreen for footage previews and shot composition, and storage comes through 64GB built-in plus microSD expansion. A 3600mAh battery with USB PD 2.0 fast charging support provides power, while connectivity comes through wifi and Bluetooth.

In terms of 360-degree video capture, the camera shoots either at 8K at 30fps or 4K at either 30 or 60fps. A slow motion mode shoots 4K video at 120fps, and all shooting mode feature 10-bit colour. Users can also stream live video directly to a smartphone (but only at 4K), while "SuperSteady" video capture combines a 6-axis gyroscope and onboard software.

One can also use the QooCam 8K to shoot regular flat video through a "SuperVlog" mode, as well as 30MP (7680 x 3840) stills in either JPG or RAW formats at 12-bit colour. A RAW+ mode takes a burst of RAW photos with more detailed 16-bit colour. A 3.5mm input allows the addition of a mic, and KanDao plans to launch a dedicated vlog mic kit.

The QooCam 8K is set to ship on December 2019 with a choice of accessories, including a selfie stick, protective case, dive case and vlog mic, to follow.
