The Sigma "World's Smallest" Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera

E-mail Print PDF

The Sigma fp is not only the first full-frame mirrorless camera from the company, but is also described as the "smallest and lightest pocketable full-frame camera" in the world.

Sigma fp

The Sigma fp measures 112.6 x 69.9 x 45.3mm and weighs 370g (without battery or camera). Inside the die-cast compact aluminium body is a back-illuminated 35mm full-frame Bayer sensor with 24.6 effective megapixels. Construction promises to be not only robust, but also includes a built-in heatsink and is sealed in 42 points for a dust- and splash-proofing.

The camera still requires a lens, making for a perhaps awkward setup considering how large full-frame lenses tend to be. When it comes to shooting the fp supports an ISO range of 100-25600 together with a 49-point autofocus system, electronic image stabilisation and the ability to shoot 4K video. Customers can swap the mechanical shutter with an electronic one, allowing for quieter shooting.

On the lens side it is compatible with the Leica L-mount standard, as well as existing Canon and Sigma lenses through the addition of an adapter. Further features include a 3.2-inch touchscreen, SD card slot, HDMI port and support for an external flash sync, microphone, headphone and remote shutter. No electronic viewfinder, though.

The Sigma fp is available from Q3 2019.
