Philips announces a monitor with a mix of productivity, ergonomic and energy saving features-- the 252B9 B-Line LCD monitor, with a 3-sided frameless design and a PowerSensor feature promising "up to 80% energy costs."

Philips 252B9 monitorPowerSensor is an infra-red "people sensor." It essentially detects whether a human being is near the monitor, and dims the screen in case of absence, leading to energy savings. Furthermore the monitor features a "0W hard switch" on the back, is compliant with the EnergyStar 7.0, EPEAT, WEEE and RoHS energy standards, and is built out of 85% post-consumer recycled plastic and ships in 100% recyclable packaging material.

As for the actual monitor, the 252B9 B-Line offers a 1920 x 1200 resolution IPS panel able to handle 90% of the NTSC colour gamut and 107.5% sRGB. Max brightness clocks at 300cd/m2, with a contrast ratio of 1000:1, 5ms g2g response time and a refresh rate of 48-76Hz. The screen also has an anti-glare coating and wide viewing angles, together with flicker-free and LowBlue modes. An "EasyRead" mode promises "a paper-like reading experience."

The display sits on an adjustable stand one can pivot, swivel, tilt and adjust the height by 150mm. It is also mountable on any 100x100mm VESA stand. Connectivity comes through VGA, DVI-D, DP1.2, and HDMI 1.4 ports, plus a USB 3.1 hub with x4 downstream ports (one fast charge port). Audio is also included through a pair of 2W speakers, as well as audio in and out ports.

The 252B B-Line monitor should reach retailers by end March 2019.
