E-mail Print PDF

Customers in want of an extra-large display might be interested in the Philips Brilliance 499P9H, a curved 49-inch monitor the company says is equivalent to a pair of 27-inch QHD monitors connected in a curve.

Philips BrillianceThe 499P9H features an unusual Dual Quad HD (5120 x 1440) resolution and 1800R curvature. A VA LED panel promises "dazzling colours, inky shadows and sparkling whites," while Low Blue Light and Flicker Free modes make it easier on the eyes. Philips does not give information on colour space coverage, instead saying it meets the VESA-certified HDR 400 standard, meaning it brings at least 400 nits of brightness.

Interestingly, the 499P9H features an integrated multiclient KVM switch, allowing users to control 2 separate PCs using a single monitor-keyboard-mouse setup. A Multiview mode, meanwhile turns to monitor into 2 displays, allowing for complex multitasking between a PC and a laptop. Further connectivity comes x1 RJ45, x2 HDMI, x1 DisplayPort, x1 USB-C, x1 USB-B and x3 USB-A (one with power delivery) ports.

On the media side the monitor includes a pair of 5W speakers. Another feature is a built-in 2.0 webcam with a pop-up design, meaning it hides from view when not in use. It also features the IR sensors required for facial recognition, allowing users to log in with a simple glance through Windows Hello. The monitor sits on an included height-adjustable stand, and it is also VESA mount compatible.

The Brilliance 499P9H is available now.
