Alienware presents a gaming laptop promising "multiple firsts" at CES 2019-- the Area-51m not only carries a 9th generation 8-core desktop processor, but it also offers upgradeable internals, a first from the company in 20 years.

Alienwaere Area51-mAs the next Alienware flagship, the Area-51m features a new Legend brand identity while packing desktop specifications in a portable form factor. As such, it is configurable with up to an Intel i9-9900K processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 graphics. The processor is socket swappable, while a DGFF (Dell Graphics Form Factor) slot houses the GPU. Customers can also upgrade the memory and storage, to a maximum of 64GB RAM.

On the display side the Area-51m offers a 17.3-inch panel with a choice of either 60Hz refresh, 60Hz with G-Sync, 144Hz with Tobii eye tracking, 144Hz with G-Synch or 144Hz with both Tobii eye tracking and G-Sync. Since the laptop carries desktop components it requires plenty of cooling, making for a bulky 410 x 402mm chassis with depth varying from 27.65 to 42mm. Weight reaches a chunky 3.87kg.
