Zero Zero Robotics announces a sequel to the 2016 Hover Camera Passport drone-- the Hover 2, a more powerful take on the AI-powered selfie-taking drone, complete with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and an "Optical Radar" feature.

Hover 2The Hover 2 features a foldable body similar to the first version, if with encasing users can replace with a lighter protector allowing for longer flight time and control range. The Optical Radar feature consists of a swiveling stereo sensor adding 360-degree depth perception and obstacle avoidance, allowing the onboard camera to focus on the subject.

The camera can shoot either 12MP photos or 4K video, includes electronic image stabilisation and sits on a 2-axis gimbal. The drone flies for up to 23 minutes on a single charge, with control range reaching up to 5km. Users can control the drone via BlastOff controller (a controller one pairs with a smartphone to get a view from the drone camera) or Palm Pilot, a one-hand controller complete with a small LCD.

The first Hover drone was crowdfunded via Kickstarter, so it should come to no surprise Zero Zero Robotics is returning to the platform in order to collect preorders for the sequel. The Hover 2 has already made x6 an initial $100000 pledge goal, and shipments promise to start from March 2019.
