Logitech announces the G305-- an entry-level gaming mouse featuring properietary Lightspeed wireless technology and a 12000 DPI HERO sensor for responsive and lag-free operation.
While aimed at gamer customers, the G305 is a fairly basic device with 6 programmable buttons (counting left click, right click and scroll wheel) and LED lighting. However the technologies inside are fairly sophisticated. Lightspeed connectivity promises to reduce the wireless receiver polling rate to 1ms, increase signal strength and even use proprietary frequency hopping mechanism to use the strongest interference-free channel.
Meanwhile the HERO optical sensor has 12000 DPI sensitivity, up to 400 inches per second detection and up to 40G acceleration. Logitech adds the combination of the two technology leads to increased power efficiency-- so much so the mouse lasts for up to 250 hours on a single AA battery, and up to 8 months if the polling rate is reduced to 8ms.
