Nimbus Data Claims Biggest SSD

E-mail Print PDF

Nimbus Data pushes the SSD size goalposts as it announces the ExaDrive DC100-- a storage device the company claims crams 100TB of 3D flash memory in the standard 3.5-inch SATA form factor.

Nimbus Data SSDFor the curious, 100TB allows one to store 20 million songs, 20000 HD movies or 2000 iPhones worth of data. The record comes just a month after Samsung claimed to have the biggest SSD, the 30TB PM1643.

As one might imagine the ExaDrive DC100 is aimed at enterprise applications, with read/write performance reaching 100000 IOPS and up to 500MBps throughput. Thus it should be able to handle workloads ranging from big data and machine learning to rich content and cloud infrastructure. It also promises low power (0.1W/TB) and portability for use in edge and IoT applications, and a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 2.5 million hours.

The ExaDrive DC100 is available from Q3 2018.
