Intel Wants Wireless Device Re-charge

E-mail Print PDF

Intel thinks a “wireless resonant energy link” might re-charge the gadgets of the future.
At IDF, Intel used a magnetic field to broadcast 60w nearly up to a meter and lost only 25% of the power in transmission. This technology—if embedded in tables and work surfaces -- could begin drawing power as soon as you set down an equipped device.
Several start-up firms, (WildCharge, WiPower et al) already have wireless charging technologies but require gadgets to actually touch a charging station.
