Water-Based Power via MyFC Jaq

Stockholm-based MyFC presents the latest version of its hydrogen fuel cell technology at Mobile World Congress 2015-- the Jaq, a slim and portable backup battery product usable with all USB-compatible devices.

The technology inside Jaq is more or less similar to that found in the previous MyFC fuel cell product, the PowerTrekk. The charger mixes salt and water (in the shape of a cartridge) to produce hydrogen. In turn, the hydrogen produces electricity, with the only by-products being heat and water vapour. The only difference is the Jaq is a much slicker rubberised sleeve, while the cartridges are slim and credit card-size.

Kickstarting a Pebble Sequel

Pebble Technology returns to Kickstarter to crowdfund and/or open preorders for its next generation smartwatch-- the Pebble Time, an update featuring a colour ePaper display, microphone and a revamped "timeline" user interface.

Like the first Pebble, the Pebble Time features four physical buttons and requires connection to a smartphone (via Bluetooth LE) for actual usability. However it replaces the monochrome ePaper display with a 64-colour version, while the stainless steel body is slimmer and slightly curved to hug the wrist better.

Battery life clocks at around 7 days, making it superior to just about every other alternative on the market.

A More Compact Das Keyboard

German keyboard maker Das Keyboard announces a smaller version of the most recent typing device sharing its name-- the Das Keyboard 4C, an 88-key mechanical keyboard designed for customers wanting more desk space.

Like all other Das Keyboard offerings, the 4C features mechanical key switches for tactile and audio feedback-- or, as the company puts it, "tactile feel" and a "psycho-acoustic experience." It features a "tenkeyless" design lacking a numpad, if still complete with media and special function keys, dedicated Windows key disable control and built-in n-key rollover (NKRO) over USB support. Connectivity comes through USB 2.0.
