WD G-Drive Adds Both Storage and Power

The Western Digital (WD) G-Drive USB-C is a storage device ideal for use with laptops featuring USB-C ports, such as the next-generation MacBook, also able to charge compatible devices.

G-Drive USB-CAvailable in 4, 8 and 10TB capacities, the G-Drive USB-C has a maximum transfer rate of 195MB/s, allowing it to handle 1080p and compressed 4K video. It is compatible with Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1, USB 3.1 and USB 2.0 devices, includes both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables, and can be reformatted to work with either Macs or Windows machines.

On the power side the drive supplies up to 45W of power, allowing it to charge a MacBook or MacBook Pro without need for a separate charger.

The G-Drive USB-C ships on Q2 2017.
