EXOPC Embeds 40" Touchscreen in Desk

The Microsoft Surface might just have a better priced rival-- the EXOdesk, a combination of regular Windows PC with a desk embedding a 40" touchscreen.

ExodeskOne might remember the company for the EXOPC Slate, a Windows 7 tablet with an interesting touch-based UI overlay. The EXOdesk carries a similar interface, only within a much larger surface.

It has 10-point touch with a 1080p resolution, runs HTML5 apps (not Flash), and contains both touchpad zones and a regular physical keyboard. The company also says the viewing angle is 178-degrees.

Scheduled for a showing at CES 2012, the EXOdesk might look less slick than the Microsoft Surface, but does have one advantage-- it will cost $1300. The current Surface generation, on the other hand, costs over $12000... making it hardly affordable for the regular customer.
