Samsung announces the CF591 and CF390-- a pair of curved monitors featuring FreeSync Over HDMI, making them ideal for gamers and professionals wanting a tear- and stuttering-free visual experience.
FreeSync is an AMD technology syncing display refresh rates with game or video content framerates, thus eliminating tearing effects caused by fixed monitor refresh rates or V-Sync-related stuttering. The technology was initially limited to monitors with DisplayPort connectivity, before AMD opened it to HDMI back in December 2015.
However taking advantage of FreeSync still requires a compatible AMD graphics card.
As for the actual monitors, the CF591 is a 27-inch model while the CF390 comes in either 23.5- or 27-inch sizes. Both feature curved 1080p panels with 4ms response time, 250nit brightness, 3000:1 contrast ratio, 178-degree viewing angles and a 1800mm curvature radius. The CF591 adds dual-5W speakers and DisplayPort 1.2, while the CF390 is HDMI-only.
The CF591 and CF390 monitors should hit European markets on March 2016.
