LG takes to Radiodays Europe 2016 to launch the Stylus 2-- the first smartphone from the company with support for DAB+, the de facto standard for digital radio broadcasting.

LG Stylus 2Developed in combination with the International DMB Advancement Group (IDAG), the Stylus 2 gets digital radio support through a DAB+ chipset and an exclusive app allowing customers to enjoy digital radio broadcasts out of the box. Meanwhile broadcasters get a technical interface for the development of apps combining online services with radio broadcasts.

“We are taking a proactive approach towards the fast-paced technological shift to digital broadcasting with DAB+ to deliver a new paradigm of experiences through the smartphone,” LG says. “With its large 5.7-inch screen, 1W speaker and 3000mAh removable battery, the LG Stylus 2 is the perfect device to enjoy rich, multimedia content.”

As for hardware details the Stylus 2 is a fairly entry-level number. It features a 720p display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM and 13/8MP rear-/front-facing cameras. The OS of choice is Android 6.0 and, as the name suggests, the phone comes complete with capacitive stylus.

LG does not give a release date for the Stylus 2, but it will be available in select European countries soon enough.
