Xoom Gets 2 Sequels

Motorola announces 2 successors to the Xoom tablet range-- the Xoom 2 and the Xoom 2 Media Edition, featuring similar specifications within different sized screens.

Motorola Xoom 2Both tablets carry a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, rear- and front-facing cameras, wifi and Bluetooth connectivity and a splashguard coating. The OS remains Android 3.2, even if Motorola promises an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich is already in the pipeline.

The Xoom 2 has a 10.1" display and a couple of additions aiming at business use-- namely VPN support and data encryption. Motorola also promises the tablet has a battery life of around 10 hours.

The Xoom 2 Media Edition is smaller (with an 8.2" display featuring a 178-degree viewing angle) and has what Motorola says is a "20% improvement in graphics improvement" over the first Xoom tablet and adaptive virtual surround sound.

Motorla also offers a separate stylus accessory "with Precision tip."
