Apple announces refreshes of both the MacBook Air and the entry-level 13-inch- MacBook Pro-- the Air gets True Tone in the Retina display, while the Pro features the Touch Bar, Touch ID and a True Tone Retina display.

MacBook airAs well as the aforementioned 13-inch True Tone Retina display, the MacBook Air includes an 8th generation dual-core Intel processor, Touch ID security, stereo sound and "all-day" battery life. True Tone automatically adjust colour temperature for a more comfortable viewing experience, and is best suited for daily tasks of the web surfing, photo editing and FaceTime call variety.

Meanwhile the 13-inch MacBook Pro gets Touch Bar and Touch ID, as well the T2 security chip, an 8th generation quad-core Intel CPU (either a 1.4GHz Core i5 or 1.7GHz Core i7), "immersive" stereo speakers and a True Tone Retina display. It also includes 8GB RAM, 125/256GB SSD and x2 Thunderbolt 3 ports.

The refresh also brings the end to another entry-level MacBook-- the 12-inch MacBook, introduced back in 2015, is no more. The 12-inch model featured a number of firsts, including USB-C ports and the controversial butterfly keyboard. Thus customers now have the choice of either the Air or 13-inch Pro as an entry-level MacBook, and both are available now.
