It was perhaps inevitable-- following the arrival of the foldable smartphone Lenovo claims to have the first "foldable PC," a device with a large flexible display making part of the premium ThinkPad X1 range.

Lenovo Foldable PCAccording to the Lenovo, the yet unnamed device is an actual "full-fledged laptop with a foldable screen," not a tablet or a hybrid. The foldable display is a 13.3-inch OLED number offering 2K resolution in a 4:3 aspect ratio, making the device around he size of a larger hardback book. Further hardware details are scant, since the company simply says it is Intel-powered, runs Windows and features a full-day battery life.

Reactions to an early prototype are fairly positive, with the hinge being sturdy enough to allow for use at a variety of angles, including completely unfolded as a large tablet or partially folded in book-style form. The device also includes stylus support via bundled Wacom pen, and Lenovo says it will also include a miniature keyboard accessory for users not wanting to deal with the software equivalent.

The foldable PC should hit the market sometime in 2020, and Lenovo promises to share more details ahead of launch.
