Gaming laptop design is in good part about efficient thermal management, and Acer claims to have an appropriate solution in the Predator Helios 700-- a keyboard users can slide out to expose two air intakes.

Acer calls it the keyboard "HyperDrift," and says the mechanism allows for improved cooling and performance. The keyboard slides towards the user, making for an admittedly bulky device, even if it adds an ergonomic wrist rest. Furthermore, the keyboard includes MagForce switches on the WASD keys for "analog-like" control, as well as per-key RGB lighting and a Turbo hotkey to overclock the CPU.

In further hardware details, the Helios 700 carries a 17.3-inch 1920 x 1080 resolution display with native G-Sync support, 9th gen Intel Core i9 CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080/2070 GPU (not the Max-Q design), up to 64GB RAM and 1TB SSD/2TB HDD. Such beefy specs require plenty of cooling, and Acer complies with a pair of 4th gen AeroBlade 3D fans, 5 heat pipes and a vapor chamber. Such specs require a chunky machine, and as such the laptop is 41.7mm thick and weighs 4.5kg.

In addition, Acer announces an upgrade on the Helios 300 gaming laptop-- namely Intel 9th gen Core processors, optional 144Hz display and an RTX 2070 Max-Q GPU.

Acer is still to reveal when the Predator Helios 700 and upgraded Helios 300 start shipping.
