AMD sets to rival Intel in the laptop processor stakes with the Ryzen 5 2600H and Ryzen 7 2800H-- 45W processors offering 4 Zen cores with SMT enable, 8 processor threads and integrated Radeon Vega graphics.

AMD RyzenAimed at high performance laptops, the Ryzen 5 2600H runs at 3.2GHz base frequency (3.6GHz boost) while the Ryzen 7 2800H runs at 3.3GHz (3.8GHz boost). The integrated Vega graphics are identical in both chips, featuring 512 or 704 stream processors and speeds of 1.1 and 1.3GHz. The two chips are built using a 14nm process, and support DDR4 RAM up to 3200MHz.

The processors offerh a default 45W TDP, and can be configured to either 35W or up to 54W, allowing a choice of either low performance with less heat or higher settings at a cost of battery life. In terms of form factor, the chips ship in the same FP5 packaging used by other AMD mobile processors, although the aforementioned power requirements demand an appropriate chassis.

AMD is still to tell when the Ryzen 5 2600H and Ryzen 7 2800H will hit the market.
