Ricoh announces the WG-M2 action camera at MWC 2016-- an update on the rugged WG-M1 featuring a smaller and lighter design, 4K video capability and an ultra-wide 204-degree field of view.

Ricoh WG-M2The WG-M2 shoots 4K resolution video at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 120fps, all with 100Mbps bitrate and a video orientation feature ensuring video is recorded upright even if the camera is mounted sideways or upside down. It also shoots 8MP photos, making it comparable to mid-range action camera offerings from the likes of GoPro and Sony.

As for rugged construction Ricoh promises waterproofing at up to 20m depth, operation at temperatures reaching -10 degrees Celsius and the survival of 2m drops. A 1.5-inch LCD display allows users to frame shots, and users can control the camera through either hardware buttons or companion Ricoh ImageSync app.

The Ricoh WG-M2 should hit the market from April 2016 with a selection of accessories, such as the O-CC163 case and the O-CC1631 protective silicon skin.
