Ricoh adds to the lightweight Theta 360-degree camera lineup at IFA 2015-- the Theta S, a device promising "extra-high resolution, fully spherical photos and videos in one simple shot."

Ricoh Theta SThe Theta S captures either spherical 14MP photos or up to 25 minutes of 1920x1080 spherical video through a 24MP sensor, "fast" f2.0 lenses and a proprietary ultra-small twin-lens folded-optical system. It carries 8GB of built-in storage and an improved wifi module for faster data transfers between PCs or mobile devices.

Users can also control the camera through a companion Theta app allowing for setting configuration, instant spherical photo viewing and easier sharing of images and videos on social networks and the YouTube 360°Channel.

Another spherical image sharing option was launched with the Theta S at IFA-- a Google Street View app allowing users to capture and publish photo spheres on Google Maps.

The Theta S is available in European markets from October 2015.
