A Bread Basket to Charge Your Devices

Bread is a great way to charge up one's body, what with its consisting mainly of carbohydrates. And now that most staple of foods can also charge your devices-- or rather the basket holding it can, with the Sister Schubert's Basket of Warmth.

Basket of WarmthSister Schubert's is a US-based producer of baked goods, and its Basket of Warmth has been released just in time for the nation's biggest holiday, Thanksgiving. As the company puts it, the Basket of Warmth can make a holiday table centrepiece, feeding guests with warm carbs while ensuring devices are kept charged through 5 USB ports. It even has a space in the bottom where charging devices can be tucked away for storage.

The company also says the basket "uses the very electronic devices that create distractions at dinnertime to keep freshly baked Sister Schubert's dinner rolls warm,” but the details behind such a mechanism are hazy at best. Either way, Sister Schubert's insists "the Basket of Warmth is a reminder to all of us how important it is to disconnect, in order to reconnect with the ones we love. And there is no better time to bring that message to life than the holiday season, starting with Thanksgiving Day when families far and wide gather around the table."

So far the Basket of Warmth exists in the shape of a few prototypes, but the company hopes the idea will prove inspirational enough to help families bond over the dinner table. That, or it generates enough interest for release as an actual product. After all, who said the staff of life can't charge both human bodies and electronic devices?
