Eye tracking specialist Tobii announces a 2nd generation PC gaming peripheral-- the Tobii Eye Tracker 4C, an update on the previous Eye X model adding simultaneous head tracking.

Tobii Eye Tracker 4CThe result, the company says, is greater levels of control, as the accessory adds an input modality to complement more traditional controllers. Thus customers can pair eye tracking with mouse and keyboard or gamepad controls for a more immersive experience, using their eyes to mimic actions such as looking for cover or aiming at a target.

Tobii claims the upgrade has five "key advancements"-- the aforementioned head tracking, a built-in "EyeChip" reducing CPU load and power consumption from the host PC, smaller and less bright illuminators, an integrated USB 2.0 cord and improved eye tracking quality.

The Eye Tracker 4C is compatible with over 40 games, including Deus Ex: Mankind Divided , Tom Clancy’s The Division and the upcoming Watch Dogs 2, and Tobii expects the total to increase to over 200 by end 2017. It also supports facial recognition for Windows Hello, allowing one to unlock their PC by simply looking at it.

The device ships on November 2016.
