Samsung Puts 3 Cameras in Galaxy A7

The Galaxy A7 is an addition to the mid-tier Samsung Galaxy A line with an interesting feature on the back-- a 3-camera array consisting of a 24MP sensor with autofocus, 5MP "depth lens" and an 8MP wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view.

Such a camera should cover just about every kind of photo a customer wants to snap, from portraits complete with bokeh effects to larger landscapes. In addition, a Scene Optimiser feature promises to intelligently categorise subjects and adjust colour, contrast and brightness automatically to produce the best possible photo. As for selfie, the front-facing camera is a 24MP number complete with Selfie Focus bokeh effects and a "Pro Lighting" mode via adjustable LED flash.

“Samsung is committed to delivering meaningful innovation to all consumers across the Galaxy family, no matter who they are or where they are in the world," the company says. “That’s why we’re excited to introduce innovative new features to the A series with the Galaxy A7, a practical but powerful device that is built to help make your everyday both convenient and extraordinary.”

iPhone X Updates Abound at 2018 Apple Event

The September 2018 Apple event is all about the iPhone X, as the company reveals not one, not two, but three versions of the smartphone-- the "standard" iPhone XS, ultra-large iPhone XS Max and the more affordable iPhone XR.

While more iterative than revolutionary, the three iPhone X models run on the A12 Bionic, the first Apple SoC built using a 7nm processor. It promises a 15% increase in speed when running CPU tasks over the A11 Bionic, a 50% boost in GPU tasks and 50% less power consumption. Also seeing an increase is the number of cores (from 2 to 8), with a "Neural Engine" allowing features such as smart HDR, expressive Memoji and front/rear camera AR experiences.

BOE has already shown off flexible display prototypes at tradeshows, including a tablet-size device one can fold into a smartphone.

As such, the device will be more of a technology demo in the name of attracting industry and media coverage towards Huawei.
