Sony's Digital Paper Tablet

Sony is famous for releasing unusual devices in its home Japan, and the DPT-RP1 is one such example-- a 13.3-inch tablet featuring an ePaper display one can write or draw on via included digital pen.

Technically a successor to a similar device, the DPT-S1, the DPT-RP1 offers a "non-slip" panel Sony says makes use of the aforementioned digital pen better. It also has a thinner and lighter design that is as thick as a stack of 30 sheets of paper, while the processor is also improved.

The iPad features a 9.7-inch 2048 x 1536 resolution Retina display (one lacking full lamination or anti-reflective coating, curiously enough) and runs on a faster A9 processor. It also includes 32/128GB storage, 8MP rear-facing iSight camera, 1.2MP front-facing FaceTime camera, dual speakers, Lightning connector, 3.5mm headphone jack and Touch ID built into the Home button. Wireless connectivity comes via 802.11ac wifi and Bluetooth 4.2.

Being a basic iPad model it lacks iPad Pro features such as the Smart Connector, support for the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard and 4K video recording.

Google Reveals HP Chromebook x360 11 G1 Education Edition

A blog post detailing the success of Chromebooks in Swedish schools holds a device reveal-- the HP Chromebook x360 11 G1 Education Edition.

The G1 is a 360-degree convertible predictably aimed at the education segment. It features USB-C charging, rear/world-facing camera and optional stylus input, although Google does not specify what stylus(es) the device is compatible with. The company fails to detail what is inside the notebook, instead simply describing it as "the world's thinnest rugged convertible notebook PC."

If one is to take HP's previous ProBook as a guide, the Education Edition probably carries an Intel Celeron or Pentium processor, 8GB RAM and 64GB of built-in storage.

As mentioned earlier, the Pocket has a 7-inch 1920 x 1024 display. It carries an Intel Atom x7-Z8700 CPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a battery promising up to 12 hours of use on a single charge. Construction is in magnesium alloy, while the OS of choice is either Windows 10 or Ubuntu Linux.
