Zotac announces a family of upgradeable compact form-factor desktop systems-- the MEK1, a gaming PC range available in 2 configurations, both featuring Intel Kaby Lake CPUs and Nvidia Pascal GPUs.

Zotack MEK1Available in either black or white chassis Zotac says are inspired by "future robotics and mechanical anatomy," the MEK1 PCs are based on the same Mini-ITX motherboard. Included as standard are 16GB dual-channel DDR4-2400 RAM, a 240GB PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD and a 1TB 2.5-inch HDD, with the difference boiling down to the choice of CPU and GPU.

The black model offers an Intel Core i7-7700 CPU and a GeForce GTX 1070 Ti GPU, while the white model carries a Core i5-7400 and the GeForce GTX 1060 6GB. Otherwise the rest is identical, with connectivity coming through a 802.22ac wifi, Bluetooth 4.2, x2 GbE controllers, x6 USB-A 3.0 ports, x2 USB-A 2.0 ports, x1 PS/2 input, x1 HDMI 2.0b output, DL DVI-D header, x3 DisplayPort 1.4 outputs and analog and S/PDIF audio connectors.

The chassis is cooled through carefully managed airflows, leading to the graphics card being installed above the compartment with the CPU and M.2. Embedded full-body SPECTRA lighting is customisable through software to offer multiple lighting modes and 8 brightness levels, and a mechanical keyboard and optical mouse with matching built-in lighting are included.

The MEK1 systems should start shipping in the coming weeks.
