FreeWrite Brings Back the Typewriter

E-mail Print PDF

Customers wanting to write, but are too distracted by the online offerings of current laptops to actually do so? The FreeWrite might be a solution, being a single-purpose computer designed only for writing.

FreewriteOriginally introduced to the world via 2014 Kickstarter as the "Hemingrite," the FreeWrite is an update of the traditional typewriter. It features an eInk display (no actual paper required!), mechanical keyboard, onboard storage and wifi connectivity, allowing users to store documents on the cloud.

The built-in software currently supports Dropbox, Evernote and Google Drive, with iCloud to follow soon enough. However online connectivity is dedicated solely to cloud backups, meaning no distractions by emails, social media or anything else the internet throws at users.

The actual hardware also looks interesting-- the full-size keyboard features Cherry MX Brown switches while body construction is in aluminium. It even features a flip-out handle for easy carrying to the closest cafe.

The FreeWrite ships from March 2016.
