Home Network Security via Cujo

A company formed by a number of industry security veterans presents a means for customers wanting secure home networks-- the Cujo, a small device combining firewall, antivirus and malware protection.

CujoAccording to the makers the device is fairly easy to use, as one simply needs to connect it to the router before setup via companion app. Once installed the Cujo scans incoming traffic for potential threats such as intrusions, malware and viruses.

In addition the app lets users know when home networks are under attack.

“Unlike traditional solutions, CUJO adapts and reacts when your home is attacked and does not rely just on libraries of known malware issues," the company claims. "We analyse a humongous amount of behavioral data in our cloud and push learnings from one home to all CUJO protected homes.”

For the curious, the Cujo hardware consists of a dual-core 1GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, 4GB built-in storage and 2 ethernet ports. It uses security encryption and cryptographic hardware acceleration to power a behavioural analysis engine and runs both local and cloud security layers.

The Cujo is currently available as a preorder on the Indiegogo crowdfunding service. It ships from March 2016 and use involves a monthly subscription fee.
