The Indestructible, Unhackable Phone?

E-mail Print PDF

A company named Turing Robotic Industries claims to have the most secure smartphone around-- one not only unhackable but also unbreakable, with a casing made out of "Liquidmorphium," an alloy supposedly stronger than steel.

Turing PhoneWhile it looks as stylish as any smartphone can be, the Turing Phone does not initially impress in the specifications department. It runs on a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, features a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display and, curiously enough, lacks any ports other than a MagSafe-style "Wallaby Magstream" port. For the connection of any other accessories, including a headset, one has to depend on Bluetooth and NFC.

The device promises to be tough, as it features an IPX8 waterproofing rating through the use of a "Binnacle Ocean Master" hydrophobic coating.

On the software side the handset features a custom version of Android 5.1 boosted with built-in end-to-end encryption and "Turing coin" cryptocurrency. A fingerprint reader comes as standard, naturally.

Will the Turing Phone be as unbreakable as its makers claim? We will know once it launches later this year in a choice of 3 futuristic colour shemes, "Cardinal," "Pharaoh" and "Beowulf."
