Wexler Intros Tegra-Powered Tablets

E-mail Print PDF

Russian tablet maker Wexler launches one of the first tablets running on Nvidia's quad-core Tegra 4 chipset-- the Wexler.Terra, to be available in either 7- or 10-inch sizes.

Wexler TerraRunning on Android 4.2.2, the Wexler.Terra features IPS multitouch displays covered in scratch-resistant tempered glass handling resolutions of either 1440x900 (7-inch) or 1920x1200 (10-inch), as well as either 16, 32 or 64GB of built-in storage.

“After detailed analysis of the market, we came to the conclusion that users need affordable yet powerful devices," Wexler says. "We used the most advanced technology and design, but it kept the cost of the devices at an affordable level."

The appearance of such a device confirms an interesting piece of news dating February 2013. Rumours suggested Nvidia was planning to flood the tablet with cheap yet decent quality Tegra-powered devices from regional white label device makers including.. yes, Wexler.

Such a device strategy is hardly new to Nvidia-- it is only how the company made its fortunes in the consumer PC graphics card business.

Clever Nvidia ploy or not, the Wexler.Terra tablets should hit the market in Q3 2013.
